Donna,
You're certainly welcome. Sounds like the University responded with a working plan. It's too bad that the first plan was not very well thought out as to the effect it had on the part of the neighbors. But maybe the UVa authorities will remember this consideration in the future.I'd like to think so.And I think we in the neighborhood should consider what the UVa staff is going through,as the Fall semester begins ( I like to think of it as,"the circus returns to town...! )

On a personal note,I want to say that I do understand the strain of the extra traffic and people sometime puts on the neighborhood. My wife and I have to pick up trash, including cigarette butts, cans, and food trash, cups, etc, thrown out of cars and passers-by..This as well as a few hours of not being able to drive easily on our streets. But luckily this is a small price to pay for living here.
I am a native of what you called,"our lovely town",and began my life in this very neighborhood.I am a graduate of UVa,and my family has been associated personally and professionally with the University for over 100 years. It was never a 9 to 5 job,but a much bigger part of our lives,as are our neighbors associated with it who spend/spent much of their lives with the University, including a number of times that were difficult.

I am glad you expressed your frustration, and I am glad it has worked out for you.And I hope all is going well for you at the University as well. Let me know if we can help you as your neighbors.

Sincerely,

Tom Boyd

On Mon, Aug 28, 2017 at 10:49 PM, Donna Sy <donna.a.c.sy@gmail.com> wrote:

Dear Mr. Boyd,
Thank you for your kind offer. I appreciate it very much, but I believe that the responsibility for distributing these passes should remain with the department responsible for causing the traffic problem and bringing in large numbers of people to our neighborhood who are not residents of our lovely town, and who have little incentive to behave in a neighborly fashion. I spend enough of my waking hours working at the university that I feel little obligation to donate any more of my personal time, or that of my neighbors by proxy, to the cause of UVA Athletics.
I am glad to report that Alli Slater, Director of Facilities and Operations, Athletics, University of Virginia (434-982-5775 phone, 724-388-4346 cell, email allislater@virginia.edu), has informed me that passes for my household will be delivered to me by the end of the day on Thursday. I hope that anyone else who has scheduling or mobility issues that make it difficult to make a special trip out to pick up these passes will not hesitate to request similar service from Athletics.
Best regards,
> Sorry that this has become such an inconvenience for you. I will be going over to the U Hall office tomorrow (Tuesday) to pick up my passes. I have found the ladies there to be very friendly. If it would help you,I can pick up your passes as well,if they will let me,and deliver them to you. Or I can give you a ride over. I live on the corner of Alderman and Kent, across from Lewis Mt Rd.
